Laughter Yoga… Who doesn’t have time for a laugh?

The Birth of Laughter Yoga can be traced to the first days of Spring in the year 1995. Laughter Yoga was created by Dr. Madan Kataria (a physician from India) in collaboration with his wife Madhuri (a yoga instructor.

It’s based on the concept that the body can’t tell the difference between real laughter and fake laughter, so the physical and mental benefits are virtually the same!

Research shows laughing lowers blood pressure and reduces the level of stress hormones. It also helps boost the immune system.

“Laughter Yoga” on California’s Laguna Beach guides students through different exercises designed to make them laugh, and students have said that it has really changed their lives for the better!

Laughter yoga sessions may start with gentle warm-up techniques which include stretching, chanting, clapping, eye contact and body movement, to help break down inhibitions and encourage a sense of playfulness.

Breathing exercises are used to prepare the lungs for laughter, followed by a series of ‘laughter exercises’ that combine the method of acting and visualization techniques with playfulness, and even with just twenty minutes of laughter, is sufficient to develop full physiological benefits.

What do you think about Laughter Yoga?!?
